it's spooky season and we're on substack!
Welcome to 1319 Press. We’re so glad you’re here.
A very happy fall and warm welcome to our new newsletter! Each month, we will pop into your inbox with updates on all things 1319 Press — including info about upcoming events, submission deadlines, new titles, and author spotlights.
Today, we have some very exciting mid-morning announcements…
We are thrilled to share a new partnership with The Lemonade Stand, who recently produced Acute Exposure by August Hakvaag at Philly Fringe. The Lemonade Stand is all about sharing new work and celebrating the artists who bring the work to life. The Lemonade Stand presents a variety of different works, from fully staged plays to works in progress and staged readings, centered around a fundamental commitment to developing works, sharing contemporary voices, and connecting with Philly’s expansive arts scene. It’s simple. It’s homemade. And we love it.
Acute Exposure by August Hakvaag will soon be added to the 1319 Press collection. For now, you can pre-order Acute Exposure at our online bookstore.

In other news, Art Duty by Daniel Prillaman, another 1319 Press title, just closed at LakehouseRanchDotPNG in Miami. The dark, absurdist play received rave reviews from critics at ArtBurst Miami and Berkshire Fine Arts, writing, “The play offers no answers, no comfort — but it makes you watch, listen, and think, lingering long after the lights go out.” (Aaron Krause, Berkshire Fine Arts) Order your copy of Art Duty online now. Last update: Our open submissions are now closed. We received a whopping 80 submissions in under 24 hours, eventually reaching a total of 130 responses. Thank you to everyone who submitted. We appreciate your patience as we cull through this batch of stellar work. More info about our next round of open submissions will be coming soon.
